A recent poll has revealed a concerning trend within the Reform UK party, led by Nigel Farage. The survey, conducted by Survation and published by the anti-racism group Hope Not Hate (HnH), found that over half of Reform members believe non-white British citizens born abroad should be deported or encouraged to leave the country. This finding is particularly striking given the party's attempts to appeal to centre-ground voters and the pressure from its right-wing flank, including a new hardline party launched by Rupert Lowe. The poll also uncovered significant support among Reform members for two of Farage's rivals on the right: Lowe and the activist Tommy Robinson. HnH's report highlights the rise of a more explicitly racial nationalism within the party, which defines English identity by 'blood and ancestry'. The group warns that extreme racial nationalist views are breaking into the mainstream with the backing of Reform UK and media cheerleaders. The poll also drew a link between racially charged views on identity pushed by far-right activists during a backlash to Black Lives Matter and recent interventions by Reform UK figures such as Matthew Goodwin and Suella Braverman. The findings were described by HnH as evidence of tensions within Farage's party, with the group's chief executive, Nick Lowles, warning that a dilution of Reform's policies to win more moderate voters could lead to disillusionment among some members. The poll also revealed that a quarter of the British population identify positively with Robinson's movement, and another rally is being planned by Robinson, who has drawn the support of the billionaire owner of X and Tesla, Elon Musk. The wave of anti-migrant protests that reignited in Epping in July last year outside a hotel housing asylum seekers was also highlighted in the HnH report, which tracked 251 such demonstrations throughout 2025. These findings raise important questions about the direction of Reform UK and the growing influence of far-right ideologies in British politics.
