Late-night talk shows have taken a sharp turn to the left, with a staggering 92% of jokes targeting conservatives, according to a new study. This trend is particularly evident in the work of late-night hosts like Jimmy Kimmel, Stephen Colbert, and Jimmy Fallon, who have been making headlines for their controversial statements and jokes. But here's where it gets controversial... The study, conducted by media watchdog NewsBusters, analyzed 818 episodes from 2025 and found a stark imbalance in the number of liberal and conservative guests. While 197 liberal guests appeared on these shows, only two conservative guests made an appearance. One of them was Fox host Greg Gutfeld, who appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and the other was economist Oren Cass, a center-right policy analyst, who appeared on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. The data comes at the end of a tumultuous year for late-night comedy, marked by Jimmy Kimmel's temporary removal from the air after making a controversial statement about the 'MAGA gang' and their attempts to score political points off Charlie Kirk's public execution. Kimmel's jokes were not only crude but also targeted Trump 7,045 times, which is a significant increase from the previous year's 5,980 times. This trend is not limited to Kimmel; Colbert's 'Late Show' has also been accused of being a 'therapy' session for the left, with 176 liberal guests and only one conservative guest in 2025. The study also found that late-night shows campaigned for Zohran Mamdani, a socialist candidate, by telling 95% of their mayoral election jokes about his rivals, with only three out of 63 jokes about Mamdani himself. This raises questions about the fairness and balance of late-night talk shows, and invites discussion on the role of media in shaping public opinion. So, what do you think? Do you agree with the study's findings, or do you think late-night shows are simply reflecting the political climate? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
